Blacksburg Eye Associates was founded in 2008 by Dr. John M. Dovie, a graduate of Virginia Tech and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Colleen Mitchell joined the practice in 2013, and is also an alumna of Virginia Tech.
We strive to make ourselves and our services convenient and accessible to ensure that Blacksburg Eye Associates can meet the needs of the growing community in and around Blacksburg.

Founded in 2008 by Dr. John M. Dovie, an Eagle Scout and graduate of Virginia Tech, Blacksburg Eye is committed to not just being a member of the community, but serving the community. This includes working with The Lions Club and The Free Clinic of the NRV, and raising money for numerous charities. With our wonderful team we have developed up one of the most celebrated eye care office in the area : 'Our Health' Best Bedside Manner (1st place) three years in a row, Macaroni Kid’s 1st place for eye care, and winner of the Roanoke times "Best of the Burgs" eye doctor in its inaugural year, 2014. One more thing? Both of our doctors are Hokies!
